Effective January 1, 2025, the minimum wages across New York state are higher.
Employers should double check and make sure they are now paying their non-exempt employees the minimum rates as set forth below:
In New York, Westchester, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties, at least $16.50 per hour.
In all other counties, the minimum rate is now $15.50.
As a reminder, employers who fail to pay employees correctly can end up owing double damages, attorney’s fees, and other penalties.
Outside Legal Counsel LLP can help ensure that employers are fulfilling their obligations under the new minimum wage increases and other applicable laws. Reach out to us for a consultation about our services and this process.
