Covid-19 Sick Leave Law Set to Expire

By Yogi Patel

Some COVID laws passed in response to the pandemic have remained effective for almost 5 years, however, New York’s COVID-19 Sick Leave Law will expire on July 31, 2025. Until then, employers must provide 5-14 days of paid leave for employees subject to isolation orders and unable to work remotely due to symptoms. After the law sunsets, alternative leave options include the New York Paid Family Leave Law and Paid Sick Leave Law that would cover benefits triggered by COVID related time-off.
